Stuck in Lodi again....................

Stuck in Lodi
Well we aren't really stuck but I love the old CCR song. We moved to Lodi in January after living in the foothills for 32 years. I must say we have adapted nicely. It is nice living so close to my kids, work, sister and not to mention conveniences. As a photographer it is nice being somewhere different with different picture opportunities, and I have found many right here in Lodi. I love living near all the vineyards, I find great beauty in them. So here are a few of my Lodi pictures.

Photo Booth

Photo Booth
When I am not busy out shooting my landscape photography I am usually running our Photo Booth business on the weekends at weddings, Quinceanera's, parties and reunions with my husband Ed. My passion is doing landscape photography, but unfortunately it doesn't pay the bills so until it does we will supplement our income working these events. We tend to be the hit of the party because people can put on some crazy props and pose for 4 pictures and take home a memento from the party. Check us out at www.marygphotography.com

The great thing about our photo booth is that it is a complete deal. You get 2 attendants, a large upscale photo booth, large 2.75x8.5 photo strips, a custom color curtain, a graphic for the bottom of your photo booth strip, a large selection of props, unlimited photo strips, 2 monitors, a disc of images, a 12x12 completed scrapbook of all your images signed by your guests, high end Canon equipment. All you have to add is your guests for a bunch of fun for your event. Contact us at 209-304-7068

Lodi, Ca Farmer's Market

Lodi, Ca Farmer's Market
I decided to go to the local farmer's market tonight, and this is what I found. Great evening for it too, the weather was perfect and a nice breeze was blowing and musicians were filling the air with good tunes.

Goodwin Dam, Lake Tulloch, CA.
In my quest to find cool locations and places to shoot I found Goodwin Dam, it is a hidden gem near Lake Tulloch in California. It was behind a closed entry gate to vehicles and was a short walk to get to the dam. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The best way to describe it's shape is like a double horseshoe. There was no way I was going to get the whole thing in my shot so I chose to take several up close pictures. The top picture, while not the best in composition was uploaded here to just try and show the scale. These rocks at the bottom of the spillway were huge. The second shot from the top is my favorite from this shoot. Somebody commented to me while looking at this picture that "It looks like someone is pouring sugar". I love finding new things to shoot.

San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers

San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers
This place is amazing. I love flowers so this is a great place for me to spend the day. We went to SF yesterday with the rare Saturday off. We started our day with a trip to the Conservatory of Flowers. In the parking lot is the Dahlia Den which has been around and ran by volunteers for over a hundred years. They do an amazing job. I have my images off to my editor but I thought I would give you a sneak peek from my trip yesterday.

Vineyards and Grapes

Vineyards and Grapes
I have a fascination with vineyards or even orchards for that matter. I think it is the leading lines that draws me to them. They are so beautiful all year long. I love them in all seasons. I am drawn to bare trees and vineyards. Here are a few of my favorite shots taken at different vineyards around Northern California.

Lodi Grape Festival Entries

Since I am a new resident in the town of Lodi, Ca. I thought I would enter the Lodi Grape Festival this year. Here are my 6 entries that I will be entering. I was able to do 3 color and 3 B&W entries. I chose these 6 mostly because I already had 4 of them printed, matted and framed. So wish me luck!

Blogger Photographer

Well here goes. I am new to blogging and am not really sure what I have gotten myself into. I have had a passion for photography most of my life. I can always remember that my Mom would always have the newest in the camera department, when they came out with an 8mm she had one, I still remember when she got a 35mm film camera once she saw mine. I feel that I have really come along as a photographer over the past 5 years, I try to challenge myself regularly with new techniques or places. I love landscape and wildlife the best. I am not much into taking portraits, by I am proud to say my daughter Mary inherited the same passion, she owns a photography studio in Lodi, Ca and does 25 to 40 weddings a year. I am now working full time at her studio helping out as much as I can. I also enjoy having a website to show my work at www.bgillespiephotography.com and am the new chairperson for the Lodi Community Art Centers annual photography show. So we will see how long I can keep this up. Thanks for coming along on my journey.
